14 DAY TRIAL // So far, 3D printers have printed a lot of things, but nothing for themselves. Quite different from the behavior of their creators really. Most of the things humans make they make for their own benefit.
The 3D printing industry is finally showing some self-importance, albeit indirectly.
InkFactory, a British printing supplies company, showed the ability of 3D printers to 3D print cartridges for inkjet printers.
So while 3D printers haven't made anything for their own use, they have begun to make things for printers in general.
Only the standard ink bladder had to be installed to make the cartridge operational.
A Makerbot Replicator 2 was used to make the component.
Now we just have to wonder if it's possible to print the ink itself. Technically speaking, anything is possible, so I guess that answers that question. It won't happen any time soon though.
