Research In Motion's first tablet PC, the BlackBerry PlayBook, is about to receive a great load of new features and capabilities via a series of new applications headed for it. This week, during its developer conference, RIM announced the upcoming release of applications like Facebook for PlayBook, Video Chat, a new email client for the device, and some new games as well, such as Angry Birds.

During the BlackBerry World in Orlando, RIM showed some other new features as well, including 3D gaming, which was demoed on the device courtesy of Unity.

In the video embedded at the bottom of this article (courtesy of CrackBerry), you can see such a game being showcased on the BlackBerry PlayBook.

The device provides great performance levels, which would enable a great gaming experience, and all that remains to be done being to port games to the PlayBook.

Unity offers a tool that enables devs easily make the transition, and the Samuray II game demoed at the conference is one such example.

However, this is not the only great software that would arrive on the new RIM tablet PC soon. VEVO is set to make their application available for the BlackBerry PlayBook too.

As soon as this is done, users would enjoy access to one of the top online music video services in the world, with a catalog containing a broad selection of content.

As soon as the mobile application becomes available for the tablet PC, users would enjoy streaming of content in HD to their devices, the guys over at CrackBerry note.

For the time being, however, no specific release date for the software was provided, but it might not be too long before the company unveils more on the matter.

With the PlayBook just arriving on shelves, more and more applications developed for it would certainly start to emerge in the not too far future, so stay tuned to learn more on this.
