Yes, Jesus as in Jesus Christ, the one son of God

Over the weekend, on Saturday, Jessica Hayesof of Fort Wayne, Indiana, married Jesus Christ. That's right, the Jesus Christ. The son of God.

The 38-year-old woman, a theology teacher at the local Bishop Dwenger High School, decided to tie the knot with our lord and savior when, despite praying and hoping for love for years and years, she failed to meet her soulmate.

The wedding was just like any other

38-year-old Jessica Hayesof's wedding to Jesus Christ was just like any other. Well, except for the fact that the groom wasn't there.

The woman put on a white dress, which she says she searched for for years before finally settling on the perfect cut for the event, and hundreds of people came to bear witness to the union.

“I’ve seen so many wedding dresses over the years that I think I’ve probably changed my mind very many times. I had to really consider the appropriateness of the occasion for my dress,” the woman said in an interview, as cited by DM.

The ceremony, during which the bride vowed eternal love and devotion to her groom, was conducted by Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades and took place at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

Now that she's married Jesus, Jessica Hayes is what they call a consecrated virgin. This means that she cannot marry or be intimate with anybody for the rest of her life.

As odd as marrying Jesus might sound to some people, the 38-year-old school teacher does not think her marriage is all that different to other such unions. There's the husband and then there's the wife and that's that.

“I think that in some sense, we’re all called to be married. It’s just a matter of discerning how. So, my marriage is to Christ and someone else’s marriage is to their spouse,” she explained.

There are other women married to Jesus

By the looks of it, about 3,500 other women across the globe are also happily married to Jesus. Like Jessica Hayes, they too have vowed never to betray Christ's faith by marrying or becoming romantically involved with someone else.

In a way, they are kind of like nuns. However, they are not obliged to live in convents and may or may not work or volunteer for the Catholic Church.
