343 Industries, the development studio that Bungie has formed specifically to deal with the Halo franchise after Bungie has left the development process, has put out a job listing that mentions that it is recruiting a Missions Designer to work on an unnamed new project.

The position entails working with the lead designer team of the game, creating maps for both single player and multiplayer and offer ideas about how the game could be improved.

[ADMARk=1]Here are the requirements for the job listed in the ad:

- high school diploma or GED; - at least five years spent in the video game industry; - proof that at least one AAA game features work from the designer; - a portfolio which shows level design experience; - a lot of experience with 3D art and with creation tools like Maya and Unreal; - communication skills.

To dispel any idea that the position could be linked to any other franchise than Halo, the 343 Industries team also says they are looking for “Rabid Halo fan - be prepared to demonstrate that you’ve played and thought a lot about the game.”

343 Industries has some former Bungie people on staff, but they have recently put out a number of job ads, suggesting that they are preparing to create an important new title.

There are rumors that Microsoft plans to remake and re-release the first two Halo titles with updated graphics and mechanics, but that is unlikely to require mission designers that are focused on new ideas.

Microsoft has pushed the launch date for Gears of War 3 to the fall of this year, meaning that players will not be getting a Halo themed title in 2011.

Bungie is at the moment working with publisher Activision Blizzard on a ten-year deal that involves the development of a new AAA level franchise.

The developer has not said what kind of game it is aiming to create, but all bets are that it will be a first-person shooter.
