The next three Halo video games will be launched under the Reclaimer Trilogy name by developer 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft and the team working on the new universe already has the overall story laid out in broad strokes, covering the next ten-year period.

Frank O’Connor, who is the franchise development director working at 343 Industries, told Game Informer that, “Story is funny because I’ve been thinking about where the Halo story goes for ten years. And even as a fan, I wonder, ‘what’s gonna happen next? We have things mapped out pretty far, probably about ten years, but they’re pretty vague, they’re big plot points.

“We think that X wlll happen, we think Y will happen, we think they should go visit Z. There’s a danger that you’ll get granular in your planning because if this was a novel, you could just write an end. But it’s not a novel.”

He added, “New technology appears and give you new opportunities, pieces of the sandbox end up being less or more popular than you might have expected. And so the constant shift in reality, never mind the technology of the gameplay content, should be the thing that defines your gameplay universe.”

The original Halo trilogy was one of the best sellers on the Xbox platforms from Microsoft and one of the core reasons that made the home console a leader in the shooter market.

Halo 4 will be launched on November 6 on the Xbox 360 all over the world.

The development team has not offered any clear details on the story of the game, but it will focus on Master Chief, Cortana and a new alien threat.

Despite the fact that Microsoft has not made any official announcements about it, Halo 5 and 6 will probably be released on the Xbox 720, or whatever the hardware maker names its next home console.
