Apple recently released the iOS 11 beta and it seems that previous rumors were confirmed. The new mobile OS from Apple doesn’t come with support for 32-bit apps. When attempting to open a 32-bit app in iOS 11, the app does launch and a message is displayed on the screen.

The message says that “The developer of this app needs to update it to work with iOS 11.” Therefore, Apple went on and removed support for 32-bit apps in the latest iOS version. The move was expected for quite some time now. Back in 2016, Apple started warning its customers that older apps may slow down the iPhone and won’t work.

This year, Apple has said that some apps won’t work with upcoming versions of iOS. That being said, some applications will no longer work in iOS 11 and developers need to update them in order to continue offering support.

iOS 11 brings a number of changes and improvements

Apple started supporting 64-bit apps when the iPhone 5s was launched in September 2013. iOS 10 users can check if they have 32-bit apps installed on their devices by accessing the App Compatibility section of the Applications menu.

iOS 11 brought a number of changes including a new interface and Control Center that fits all controls on just one page. Car mode was added to the Do Not Disturb mode and the new Files app finally features basic file management tools.

Siri also received a male voice and translation skills to automatically translate text into various languages. Apple made changes to the camera mode and added a new image format called HEIF, based on HEVC. The format brings great image quality at half the file size and even the portrait mode was updated to work in low light and with support for OIS. The Apple Store is now split into Apps and Games, while Apple Maps received a lane guidance.
