A survey conducted by Piper Jaffray highlights the reasons existing Apple customers do not buy the iPhone X, and unsurprisingly, the high price tag is getting a large share of votes.

Specifically, 44% of the respondents said they don’t plan to purchase the iPhone X because their current iPhone still works fine and there’s no point in upgrading – this was the most voted option in the survey.

Then, with 31% percent of the votes is the high price of the iPhone X, as a substantial number of queried iPhone users still think the anniversary model is too expensive. Then, 17% of those asked why they haven’t upgraded to iPhone X said it’s because they have another reason, with no other specifics offered, while 8% said they would rather prefer a larger screen.

Cheaper iPhone coming this year

Since the high price of the iPhone X is without a doubt a major drawback for many people who considered buying the phone, Apple is already prepared to deal with this problem using the upcoming 2018 generation.

This year’s model lineup will include three different configurations, one of which will be a more affordable iPhone model that could hit the shelves with a price tag of approximately $699.

This version, however, is expected to lack some key features, such as 3D Touch and wireless charging, and instead of an OLED display, it could come with an LCD screen like the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. On the other hand, features like Face ID are still on the table as part of Apple’s transition off fingerprint sensors.

The two other models are a direct successor to the iPhone X with a 5.8-inch screen and a Plus-sized version that could be equipped with a 6.5-inch OLED display. All three will feature Face ID, edge-to-edge screens, and new-generation hardware.
