Patrick thinks he's finally ready to settle down

Patrick the wombat celebrated his 30th birthday over the weekend, on Sunday. The oldest marsupial of his kind in captivity, he had staff at the Ballarat Wildlife Park throw a bash to mark the occasion.

He got lots of presents, and more importantly, his caretakers agreed to help him look for love. Where? Well, on Tinder, of course.

Yup, Patrick is on Tinder

He might be the oldest common wombat in captivity, but Patrick is still quite a catch. Now that he's got his own Tinder profile, maybe he'll find the right gal and settle down at long last.

Here's what you should know if you think you might be able to help Patrick find his soulmate: this would-be heartbreaker is looking for somebody who would go digging holes with him and feed him carrots day in, day out.

The right furry lady for Patrick the wombat would also have to be the type who enjoys romantic walks under the cover of darkness, especially around dusk and dawn.

“He's after someone who enjoys late night, especially dusk and dawn, can dig a good hole and enjoys feeding him carrots,” caretaker Julia Leonard told the press in an interview.

Patrick is a sensitive guy

The reason Patrick hasn't yet found true love is that he is too sensitive and friendly. Apparently, most lady wombats don't like nice guys all that much. Instead, they fancy bad boys better.

“The male wombat has to be very aggressive towards the female, and Patrick isn't a very aggressive wombat. So he chooses to be single,” said Julia Leonard, as cited by ABC News.

In captivity, wombats usually live about 15 to 20 years. Not to ruin romance for everybody, but perhaps Patrick's longevity might have something to do with the fact that he's never tied the knot.

Then again, should a suitable match come up on Tinder, chances are the wombat will forgo his life as a bachelor in the blink of an eye and go running for love.
