The man was arrested this past Wednesday, nobody seems to care what crimes he committed

Proving once and for all that, contrary to what some might argue, it often happens that what matters is what is on the outside, a handsome criminal's mugshot has gone viral on social media.

The mugshot, available above, was posted on the Facebook page for the Stockton Police Department in California, US, this past June 19, and has since scored loads of likes, shares, and comments.

Specifically, the photo now boosts over 42,600 likes, 4,600 shares, and 13,200 comments. Mind you, the word “now” means “at the time this article is being written” in this context.

Chances are that, in just a few hours, the photo will be even more popular than it currently is, and the flood of media reports on this handsome criminal and his to-die-for looks (by some people's standards, or course) will be the one to thank for it.

Not at all surprisingly, the mugshot is turning out to be especially popular among ladies. “I might just have to hold him hostage for a while!” a woman writes in a comment on Facebook.

“I know he's naughty but Jesus, he's beautiful. Those lips. Them eyes. That jaw. Gorgeous,” another one says. What's more, some are quite convinced that this 30-year-old criminal might just be their soulmate. “I found my new boo,” a fan confesses.

According to LA Times, the man is named Jeremy Meeks, and he is 30 years old. Police officers say that, dreamy eyes, high cheek bones, and masculine jawline aside, he is a felon, and will therefore spend some time in prison.

More precisely, what landed Jeremy Meeks behind bars is illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, walking around in public while carrying a firearm, and engaging in criminal street gang activity, TMZ informs.

The good news is that, by the looks of it, this 30-year-old handsome criminal is currently held on $900,000 (€661,303) bail. Provided that the people who are now busy liking and sharing his photo are not all talk and no action, he might just make it out of prison, even if only for a short while.

Then again, if Jeremy Meeks knows what's best for him, he'll probably choose to remain in prison rather than go back on the streets and face his hoard of admirers.

Not at all surprisingly, the Stockton Police Department says that, ever since its official Facebook page was launched back in 2012, no other mugshot has until now received this much attention from the general public.
