It is called WR300NSI and is a merger between three different gadgets

The wireless connectivity market is home to quite a few types of products, not just routers, but this can come across as both a blessing and a curse, especially to those who want things to take up as little space as possible.

That is why Diamond Multimedia has introduced the WR300NSI: because it combines the benefits of three different wireless networking components.

Said three components are a Wireless Repeater and Range Extender, a Wireless Bridge Device, and a Standalone Wireless Access Point.

Normally, Wi-Fi repeaters need an external power supply adapter, but the WR300NSI doesn't. It can just plug into any available power outlet.

Another asset is that the device can connect to a wired router, cable modem or DSL modem. This is the reason it qualifies as a standalone wireless access point actually.

Then, there is the set of RSSIs (Received Signal Strength Indicators), which determine the signal strength received from the router. It enables easy choosing of the ideal placement in relation to it.

Meanwhile, the reason the WR300NSI can act as a Wireless Bridge Device is because it can pick up wireless signals from home wireless networks and convert them to wired Ethernet connections, not just the other way around.

Thus, HDTVs, game consoles, media players and Blu-ray players that would otherwise have been unable to tap into Wi-Fi will be allowed to do so.

All this thanks to the aptitude of WR300NSI to take an existing 802.11n wireless signal, repeat it and send it to a larger range (up to 30 meters / 100 feet).

Finally, the WR300NSI has a LED signal indicator that shows wireless strength at any location, allowing for easier elimination of dead spots.

Curiously, Diamond Media doesn't seem to have added the new device to its official list yet. It did publish a press release though, complete with the price of $49.99 / €49.99.
