Aicent has announced its partnership with mobile media company 3 UK in an attempt to deliver more multimedia messages worldwide. Mobile operator 3 was awarded the 'Best Messaging Service' title at the 3GSM Congress during February this year and is a market leader in mobile communications, entertainment and information.

The company has decided to use Aicent's MMS Gateway for providing its customers in the UK with the possibility of sending large, content-rich messages to more than 600 mobile operators worldwide.

The Aicent MMS Gateway operates as a platform for sending MMS and overcomes a major challenge for inter-network MMS delivery.

Up until now, the operator the MMS sender was required a relationship with the recipient's operator or else the message would not be delivered.

Because Aicent MMS Gateway acts as a hub and is able to connect operators to other networks without individual agreements, this will no longer be an issue. The advantage of the gateway is that it will increase the number of network to which a mobile operator's subscribers can send messages.

"We are the leader in the convergence of communications, entertainment and information services for customers on the move," said David Cooper, CTO of 3 UK. "As MMS traffic continues to grow and customers' expectations increase we need to ensure their ability to send MMS to friends, family and colleagues anywhere in the world. With Aicent we have the best solution in the market." According to Adil Pastakia, Aicent's general manager for Europe, 3's customers in the UK generate the highest number of MMS messages sent per subscriber in the whole industry.
