I can't express my appreciation when games such as these hit the Virtual Console. I become a bit of a tempered guy when I see games like Gyruss and Pac Man launching on console Internet services, having to pay for the download too, but no one can mess with the classics: Castlevania, The Legend of the Mystical Ninja and Shockman, all downloadable for your Wii via Virtual Console as of yesterday.

Here's a bit of a short description for each game, just in case you never had a NES, SNES, or maybe just because something might have slipped your eyes during the 80s:

1 - Castlevania

Step into the shadows of the deadliest dwelling on Earth, with one main goal: to destroy the curse of the Evil Count, once and for all. Make your way through six monstrous floors filled with bats, ghosts, zombies and every kind of ghoulish creature you can imagine. Use the legendary whip Vampire Killer and an array of other weapons to eliminate foes in the ultimate duel of good vs. evil. NES orginal title, 1 player, worth 500 Wii Points

2 - The Legend of the Mystical Ninja

Take control of Kid Ying and Dr. Yang in an action adventure through feudal Japan. The village of Horo-Horo has been struck by a curse and its princess, whom everyone loved, has vanished. Together Kid Ying (a daring young mystical ninja) and Dr. Yang (master of the invincible spirit transformation) must beat 10 levels of the Dragonbeast to save Princess Yuki. Intense switching between 3-D and 2-D zones is to be experienced, while the pair must perform dozens of attack moves on adversaries trying to stun them and solve magical problems and puzzles before advancing. This is a SNES classic of 1 or 2 players, now available to download via VC for 800 Wii Points.

2 - Shockman

Shockman is a side-scrolling action shooter of 8 stages, including Action Stages, (bonus) where you jump and use special techniques. A message from the professor to return to their bodies has Arnold and Sonya heading to his laboratory, but they are ambushed by a mysterious enemy along the way. After barely defeating him, a TV news flash announcing the Ryo Empire invasion captures their attention. They find that the professor has been abducted and set out to rescue him. The games is a TurboGrafx16 original title (picture to the left side of the article) of 1 or 2 players. Shockman will set you back 600 Wii Points

Remember, the three games have already been made available as downloadable content via Nintendo's Internet service, Virtual Console. Have fun!
