14 DAY TRIAL // Every Monday, the AppStore editors are trying to get us to be more productive over the week and come up with a new selection of apps that will do just that. Last week, just before the Apple Watch unveiling, we had some great clock apps for special prices. Now it's time to make sense of different measures and units in order to better understand them.
This week's Productivity Monday has only three apps. None of them is free, but if you're looking to get something converted into something else, these are you best choices.
Amount converts Unites and Currencies
A converter app cannot possibly get simpler and more elegant than this one. Amount is only $0.99 (€0.77) in the AppStore, and once you take a look at it, you will know how it got to be named Apple’s best new App in 2013 or get included to the New and Noteworthy or AppStore Editors' Choice lists.
Amount has an easy to work with interface and features over 700 units across more than 30 categories. You only have to enter the unit once and you see all conversions below it. You can edit the order of the units or search for the one you need. There's also a history log, so you can go back to something you checked a few days before.
The Converted has the best interface
By far the most interesting user experience is provided by The Converted. This app is not your regular cookie cutter app, but a nice refresh of a user interface for an idea that cannot offer too much space to move. You get a clear perspective of the units measured, and there's a lot of them: 479 units across 21 categories.
You will also get exchange rates for 165 currencies that will be updated daily as long as you connect to the Internet for a few seconds. After that, you can just enjoy the functionality offline. And just so you don't get bored, each screen has its own little twist in the interface to make it easier to use.
Vert – the customizable choice
If you are looking for a converter app that you can fiddle with, look no further than Vert. For $4.99 (€3.86) you will get your hands on the number 1 Top Utilities app in 31 countries. Vert has over 1,000 units in 34 categories and 164 currencies with automatic updates.
The user interface is optimized for iPhone and iPad and you get an elegant design with multiple color themes.
