Just like Geohot’s Blackra1n jailbreak utility, the iPhone Dev Team’s famous PwnageTool application is also on track to include full OS 3.1.3 support for several devices, including the third-generation iPod touch.

Released to the public on February 8th, PwnageTool 3.1.5 is the latest available version of the popular application employed by Mac users to jailbreak their iPhones and iPod touches. Developed and maintained by the infamous iPhone Dev Team, PwnageTool first of all specializes in jailbreaks, and, when possible, also unlocks or preserves an unlock. It is the case with PwnageTool 3.1.5, which can effectively jailbreak a number of device models, but doesn’t provide an unlock. It does, however, preserve an unlock for older devices like iPhone 2G (first-gen iPhone).

Completely left out in the cold are iPod touch 3G users, whose devices aren’t supported by any jailbreak tools. PwnageTool 3.1.5 is no exception. The iPhone Dev Team clearly states that, “If you really truly feel that you need to update, this version creates a custom 3.1.3 IPSW for you to restore to on your iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS with early bootrom, iPod touch 1G, and iPod touch 2G with early bootrom.” It adds that, “If you don’t know if you have an early bootrom or not, please avoid updating until you learn more.”
