2K Games has announced another piece of single player focused pack of downloadable content for BioShock 2 that is entitled Minerva's Den. It will introduce new characters and locations to enhance the already rich atmosphere of Rapture. No release date or pricing have been mentioned, but it is known that the add-on will be available on the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and PC.

“Minerva’s Den is a substantial addition that will give players more of what they’re looking for: more story, more narrative, more gameplay and more of Rapture,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “The core team has created an exciting product that further enhances the mystery and allure of the world of Rapture. Minerva’s Den will be a fitting conclusion to the BioShock 2 saga.”

Players will get to explore Rapture Central Computing, a previously unknown district of the underwater city that will uncover dark secrets from Andrew Ryan's past. Some of the new additions to the game include high tech weaponry and a new Plasmid with devastating effects. The package will introduce new enemies as well. Dangerous Splicers that can command the power of the elements, Security Bots that can fire rockets and lightning bolts and even a new type of Big Daddy are all part of the new roster of adversaries that players will encounter in the new DLC.

This comes just as Protector Trials, another single player driven downloadable expansion for BioShock 2 has been launched on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. This package introduced a kind of a challenge mode to the game that tasked players to fill in the shoes of a Big Daddy and protect a Little Sister from the onslaught of the ADAM-stealing Splicers. It seems 2K Games is really wanting to enhance the singe player portion of BioShock 2, after three other pieces of DLC that have added new content for the online part of the title.
