2K Sports, a division of 2K, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., has announced the availability of NHL 2K11 for iPhone and iPod touch, the first licensed NHL video game for iOS devices.Available starting today, NHL 2K11 for iPhone and iPod touch is characterized by a new control system designed from the ground up, the development studio said in a report.
Animations and graphics are ported from the console version of the game.
NHL 2K11 also boasts a fully realized season, shootout and free skate modes of play, according to 2K Sports, which sells the game at a discounted price ($1.99) during its first week of availability, to celebrate the launch of the title.
“The quality of this game is outstanding and it’s just pure fun,” said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports.
“Featuring graphics, animation and intense hockey action found in the console game - this is a complete NHL gaming experience that fits in your pocket.”
“Now diehard hockey fans have something to do while they wait for the 2010 NHL season to begin,” Argent added.
As the first officially licensed NHL and NHL PA game on any portable platform, NHL 2K11 for iPhone and iPod touch allows fans to make trades and sign free agents in Season Mode.
Practice and quick game modes are also available for avid NHL fans who will want to master the new control scheme.
“On top of the deep set of features already present in the game, 2K Sports plans on providing regular updates throughout the season to ensure the gameplay experience stays fresh all year long,” the company also confirmed.
A free / lite version of NHL 2K11 is also available for download.
Although the game is marketed by 2K Sports as being aimed at iPhone and iPod touch, NHL 2K11 is also compatible with iPad.
It requires users to to have at least iOS 3.1.2 installed.
