World of Goo, the ingenious puzzle game created by an indie game studio based in San Francisco, California, is on sale this weekend on the iTunes App Store and Mac App Store.

Ron Carmel and Kyle Gabler, the the two 2D Boys, have decided to let another wave of gamers download and enjoy their intriguing puzzler on iPad and Mac OS X by slashing its price almost to zero through this weekend.

Cut by as much as 80%, the price to download World of Goo for iPad is now $0.99 (0.79 EUR) and $1.99 (1.59 EUR) for Mac OS X.

“Beautiful and surprising, the millions of Goo Balls who live in the World of Goo are curious to explore - but they don't know that they are in a game, or that they are extremely delicious,” says 2D Boy.

“Drag and drop living, squirming, talking, globs of goo to build structures, bridges, cannonballs, zeppelins, and giant tongues,” reads the game’s enticing description on the Apple App Stores.

The game is equally fun to play on both desktop computers and on the iPad. There are no limitations whatsoever to the tablet version and, in fact, some may find it more appealing to drag goo balls around with their finger, rather than with a mouse pointer.

World of Goo has received accolades from pretty much every gaming site and blog out there, including Softpedia.

The game combines platform puzzle elements with physics-based gimmicks, enabling gamers to approach revisited stages with the same level of excitement as they did when they first played them.

The music plays a big role giving players a unique feeling each time they take up a new mission, whether it involves sleeping goo, albino goo, etc.
