Amazon UK is one of the first retailers that is taking pre-orders for the Wi-Fi only Galaxy Tab. The tablet is priced at £299 (about $477), which is £100 lower than the unlocked 3G-equipped version. Deliveries should begin on March 31.

The latest rumors suggest that the Wi-Fi Galaxy Tab should be ready for launch in the U.S. on April 4th, but Amazon US is yet to list the device for pre-orders.

Froyo-enabled Galaxy Tab is one of the few Android tablets that come with GSM voice calling features on board. The device includes a 7-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and 600 x 1024 pixels resolution.

It comes with traits such as TouchWiz UI, multi-touch input method, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, three-axis gyro sensor, touch-sensitive controls, proximity sensor for auto turn-off and Swype text input.

The tablet sports a 3-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, video recording capabilities (720x480@30fps), but also a 1.3-megapixel secondary front-facing camera for video calls.

Galaxy Tab is powered by an ARM Cortex A8 1 GHz processor (PowerVR SGX540 graphics) and features full HD video playback capabilities (up to 7 hours) and support for Adobe Flash 10.1.

When it comes to connectivity, Galaxy Tab is a real “swiss-knife” as it embeds a wide range of data transfer technologies such as HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, GPS with A-GPS support, proprietary USB 2.0.

The device boasts 512 MB RAM and 16GB internal memory, which can be expanded up to 32GB thanks to the included microSD card slot.

It remains to be seen whether the Wi-Fi Galaxy Tab will have any impact on the market, especially since it has faced considerable criticism for being overpriced in comparison with other tablets that are delivered with Google's Honeycomb on board.
