A survey has revealed the fact that the
iPhone has high chances of becoming a success at a global scale. This is a result of the appreciation that the smartphone has received even in Japan, which is considered to be a difficult market for foreign handset
producers to enter.
Japan has already some of the most
evolved mobile phones, packing high tech performances and they are keeping many of these all for themselves. The devices rarely manage to break out the borders for a wide global release, although many hold the needed performances for receiving appreciation.
Actually, Japan holds a considerably high lead ahead of America, as most mobile phones developed and released here are superior to the "revolutionary" iPhone. Apple's handset is not even 3G enabled, as to match the US's shaky network for this service. On the other hand, the performance is widely spread on Japanese land and they are currently testing Super 3G features.
Hearing that more than 27 percent of these people are interested in buying the iPhone flatters Apple, although survey results show a slightly different thing. Only slightly more than 5 percent of respondents have declared themselves to be "very willing" to buy the smartphone, whereas the rest of 22 percent declared themselves "somewhat willing". Probably with Apple ears this sounds different than it does to us, given the
optimism that they have received the news with.
Being "somewhat willing" to buy a device has high chances of turning into "not willing" the moment when the buyer must take USD 500 out of his pocket and pay for it. The impulse might be even greater when taking into account the huge number of high tech alternatives in Japan, which surpass Apple's device in terms of performances.
A date when the iPhone will be available in Japan has not been set yet, although the
smartphone is due to arrive in Asia at the beginning of year 2008.
