Finally, official word on the development on the 24th James Bond film is out. Just hours ago, in a live announcement from Pinewood Studios in London, director Sam Mendes revealed the official name of the upcoming installment, out in theaters in the winter of 2015, and the complete cast and staff.

Exciting times! So let’s get on with it.

The 24th installment in the series will bring back Daniel Craig as the suave and dangerous 007 agent, but also Naomi Harris as Moneypenny, Rory Kinnear as Tanner, Ralph Fiennes as M (replacing Dame Judi Dench), and Ben Whishaw as Q.

New additions to the cast include Oscar-winner Christoph Waltz, former wrestler Dave Bautista, Monica Bellucci, Lea Seydoux, and Andrew Scott. All these actors, with the exception of Belluci, were rumored to be in talks for parts in the film long before the official announcement.

Waltz will play Oberhauser, who is believed to be the main villain. Bautista, who won critics and fans’ hearts with his hilarious role as Drax the Destroyer in “Guardians of the Galaxy,” will play Mr. Hinx, a James Bond classic henchman.

Bellucci and Seydoux, who went mainstream with the critically acclaimed “Blue Is the Warmest Color,” will be James Bond girls. Scott, whose role as Moriarty on BBC One’s “Sherlock” made him a huge star, will play a secret agent for the British government.

“A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE,” reads the official short synopsis of the film.

During the live announcement, Mendes joked that those familiar with the James Bond mythology will most definitely not have a problem with guessing the direction in which this film will go. But he would not “comment” on that, he added laughing.

Shooting starts in London this Monday, but the production will also include several exotic locations. More technical details about the production are also included in the tweets below, from the official James Bond feed.
