Those who ordered the first 24-inch Cinema Display units from Apple have confirmed their arrival on Wednesday, Cult of Mac is reporting. The new displays work only with Apple computers boasting mini-Display port connectors, namely the new line of notebooks introduced in October.

Apple started taking orders for its new 24-inch Cinema Display in mid November. The Display is specifically aimed at the new MacBooks, but also goes great with the company's desktop solutions, the Mac Pro and the Mac mini. Following the announcement that Apple was shipping its new, 24-inch Cinema Display, the company quietly discontinued the 23-inch version of the monitor. Selling for US$899, the 24-incher is available for order from Apple's online store.

Apple touts its new Cinema Display as “the first display made precisely for a notebook.” The LED Cinema Display includes an integrated MagSafe charger, three USB 2.0 ports, and the new Mini DisplayPort, making it easy for MacBook users to quickly connect and power their notebooks, and leaving room for peripherals as well.

The aluminum stand has an adjustable hinge that makes it easy to tilt the display in any direction. The screen boasts a 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution, and uses LED-backlit technology to provide instant full-screen brightness. It is also power-efficient. The built-in iSight video camera, mic and speakers, as well as three self-powered USB 2.0 ports round up the features list.

The display uses the next-generation DisplayPort industry standard - the new Mini DisplayPort, which delivers a pure digital signal that can drive up to a 30-inch widescreen display, according to Apple. The company was recently faced with having to release an update for users of its unibody MacBooks (including the revised Air), addressing widespread playback issues with standard definition content. The update now allows SD iTunes movies to play over the new MacBooks' DisplayPort to older displays.
