The media is no stranger to stories about cats that had to be rescued after climbing up a tree and finding that getting back on the ground was more difficult than expected. Still, stories about humans getting stuck in trees are few and far between.

Mind you, few and far between, not inexistent. On the contrary, humans do sometimes get stuck in trees, and 23-year-old Tara Dennis from Miami, US, is now a not-so-happy member of the Trees Are Utterly Evil club.

Thus, media reports say that, this past Sunday, the woman was ill-inspired enough to climb a tree that, unfortunately, turned out to be a bit too much for her to handle. Hence, she had to be rescued by a team of firefighters.

According to The New York Daily News, the woman got stuck while trying to save her cat, which had scaled the banyan just hours earlier and soon enough learned the hard way that, as agile as felines might be, they are no match for trees.

Apparently, Tara Dennis had no trouble making it all the way up to the branches her cat was patrolling. Quite satisfied with her achievement, the 23-year-old woman grabbed the cat, shoved in inside her shirt and then tried to get back on the ground.

Unfortunately, things did not exactly work out as planned. Thus, the woman found that getting down from a tree is not nearly as easy as climbing all the way to the top branches. Hence, she grabbed hold of the trunk and refused to budge.

Her boyfriend, who witnessed the entire affair, says that Tara Dennis was quite panicked and disoriented, and that she kept drifting in and out of consciousness. Since there was no way the woman was going to get back on the ground on her own, her boyfriend decided to call 911.

After arriving at the scene, firefighters used a motorized ladder, ropes, and a body harness to secure the woman and safely return her to her boyfriend. Once back on the ground, Tara Dennis was rushed to a local hospital, and doctors reassured her that, panic attack aside, there was nothing wrong with her.

Commenting on this rather peculiar incident, Miami Fire Rescue Lt. Ignatius E. Carroll said, “You get cats stuck in trees, and rarely do we get a kid stuck in a tree. This is very unusual for an adult to be stuck in a tree.” Hopefully, the 23-year-old has learned her lesson and will stay clear of tall tress from now on.
