It is a so-called performance-driven monitor from the MultiSync EA Series

NEC could probably make a lot of money if it really tried its hand on the consumer display market, but it is content with creating and selling monitors to customers from the professional/enterprise segment.

The MultiSync EA EA234WMi is the newest monitor launched for that particular sector, but not a particularly expensive one.

Indeed, the 23-inch display has a price tag of $269, which can translate into anything from €209 to €269.

Admittedly, that isn't the smallest price we've ever seen. Still, it's not nearly the highest either, especially for products with Energy Star 6.0, TCO Edge 1.2 and EPEAT Gold power efficiency and environmental friendliness certifications.

The 23-inch MultiSync EA234WMi utilizes an AH-IPS panel with 1920 x 1080 (16:9 aspect ratio) pixels resolution, brightness of 250 cd/m2, dynamic contrast ratio (DCR) of 25,000:1, wide viewing angles of 178°H/178°V, and, of course, LED backlighting.

"We are excited to add the MultiSync EA234WMi to our portfolio. This model offers a robust feature set to meet the needs of the most demanding users," said Kevin Christopherson, director of product marketing for Desktop Displays at NEC Display Solutions.

"Not only will customers get exceptional performance, but this display also has received the highest levels of environmental certifications."

MultiSync EA234WMi has four video inputs: DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI-D, and VGA.

It also gets an integrated 4-port USB 2.0 hub (2 at the back, 2 on the side), a pair of integrated speakers (2 x 1W) and an ergonomic, adjustable stand (tilt, swivel, pivot, up to 130 mm height).

Finally, the newcomer can enter an ECO mode when power and carbon is used sparingly (a carbon footprint meter and cost meter will show the difference) and use Smart Sensing technology to detect when users leave (and automatically initiate the mode).

Sales should already be underway. Prospective buyers who need extra workspace can get more than one and use them together via ControlSync.
