A 220-pound (100-Kg) bomb dating back to World War II has been uncovered in Germany, in the city of Berlin.

The explosive device has been unearthed near Hauptbahnhof Railway Station, reports say. According to RT, operations to secure the perimeter have caused disruptions for commuters on Wednesday.

Bomb disposal teams are still on site and will decide whether to detonate the device or remove it from the premises. Travelers through the area might have to wait a while until officials give the all-clear.

The find was made on the train tracks the evening before, as part of one of German authorities' “routine” searches for weaponry near the tracks.

It appears that there are literally thousands of bombs that are lying hidden around the country since WWII.

As time passes, rust gathers on these devices and dismantling them becomes more dangerous.
