A new study released by Bkav Internet Security reveals that 22% of the websites in the world contain serious vulnerabilities. The results are based on the investigation of websites from 24 countries between July and October 2013.

The list of security holes includes SQL Injection, Cross-site Scripting (XSS) Directory Listing, Sensitive Path flaws. The largest number of security holes identified by experts in one single website is 407.

As expected, the number of vulnerable websites varies from one area of the world to another, depending on the level of technological development.

“This result is clear evidence for the fact that the online world nowadays has become more threatening than ever before. In order to be safe, it requires a change in awareness from governments, organizations, or even in knowledge of website developers, coders,” Bkav Vice President of Internet Security Nguyen Minh Duc noted.

It’s worth pointing out that Bkav has carried out this research with the aid of WebScan, the company’s website security testing solution.
