Monitor making have been hard-pressed to find features that can differentiate their creations from all others on the market, but there are still a few things that aren't quite common yet, and ViewSonic pounced on them when it made the TD2240.
The TD2240 is a 22-inch liquid crystal display (LCD) monitor featuring 10-point multitouch support, but that's not the core of it.
Sure, multitouch is fine and all, but it's not really unusual anymore, even in 1-finger and multi-gesture recognition.
The 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, or Full HD (Full High Definition) as it is otherwise known, is also not a surprise.
More relevant is the fact that the TD2240 has an MHL-ready HDMI port, which lets owners display smartphone content on the big screen.
The dual-hinge stand is another curiosity, allowing the monitor to move forward or backwards, or up and down, according to user preference.
More importantly, though, the dual-hinge stand lets you tilt the screen, allowing it to even lay flat if you want.
Add to that scratch-resistant surface hardness, SuperClear technology (vivid colors at any angle) and stereo speakers and there isn't much left to wish for. And still, ViewSonic went that extra mile and installed a 4-port USB hub, VGA and DisplayPort connectors. All for the price of $449 / €449.
"Today's consumers are increasingly mobile-savvy and demand the same touch experience of their mobile devices on the desktop," said Kenneth Mau, product marketing manager, ViewSonic.
"The TD2240 delivers an industry-leading touch experience with its intuitive touch technology and full feature set. Whether consumers are looking for a rich, intuitive interface or commercial environments requiring seamless integration with Windows systems, this display is equipped to meet the consumer demand for touch technology beyond mobile devices."
