A 21-year-old tragically lost his life after attempting to take a selfie while holding a gun and accidentally shooting himself in the head. By the looks of it, the man's death was witnessed by two of his friends.

Media reports tell us that the incident occurred in Mexico City, the capital of Mexico, this past weekend. It is still unclear how the 21-year-old got his hands on the gun he accidentally shot himself with.

What is known is that, before firing the weapon, the man, identified as Oscar Otero Aguilar, enjoyed one too many sips of alcoholic beverages with two of his buddies, a man named Omar Abner Campos Vives and another known as El Paco.

The three young men were still busy trying to chase away boredom with the help of booze when Oscar Otero Aguilar decided to snap a selfie while holding a gun. Unfortunately, things did not play out quite as the 21-year-old expected.

Thus, the New York Post tells us that, while trying to juggle the weapon and his phone, the young man accidentally pulled the trigger. The bullet escaping the .45-caliber pistol hit his forehead and penetrated his skull.

The wound proved nothing short of severe, and Oscar Otero Aguilar passed away in a matter of seconds, long before his friends or trained doctors even had a chance to try and save his life, the same source tells us.

Shortly after arriving at the scene of this tragic incident, police officers took Omar Abner Campos Vives into custody. They hoped to also arrest the man's other friend, El Paco. However, by the time they got there, this witness had already made his escape.

Seeing how evidence indicates that Oscar Otero Aguilar's death was an accident, chances are that the 21-year-old's friends, Omar Abner Campos Vives and El Paco, will not be held responsible for it. Consequently, it remains a mystery why El Paco made a run for it after witnessing the incident.

Information shared with the public says that Oscar Otero Aguilar wanted to post his selfie with a gun on Facebook, most likely looking to show his friends what his idea of a fun night out in the city was. Needless to say, the photo never made it online.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding this 21-year-old man's death is still ongoing. According to police officers in charge of seeing this case through, an autopsy is expected to be carried out sometime later this week.
