News from Russia says that the country is looking to build over two dozen new nuclear reactors over the following few years.

Thus, it appears that, by the year 2030, as many as 21 new nuclear reactors will be erected in several of the country's regions. Oil Price details that, ten of these reactors will be part and parcel of five new nuclear power stations. The stations will be located in the Kostroma region, the Nizhny Novgorod region, the Republic of Tatarstan, the closed town of Seversk and the Kaslinsky district of the Chelyabinskaya oblast.

Another ten will be built in areas that already house one or more nuclear facilities, and are expected to eventually replace stations that are a tad too old to remain operational much longer.

Thus, the country wishes to pull the plug on the Kola, Kursk, and Smolensk power stations. The first is to be replaced by a two-reactor unit, whereas the other two are to be replaced by units packing four reactors each.

The 21st new nuclear reactor will be added to the Beloyarsk nuclear plant, the same source tells us.

Information concerning the costs of this project has not yet been shared with the public.
