New comedy has very little in common with the '80s original series

The green band trailer for “21 Jump Street,” considered so far a remake of the '80s television show, has arrived. It further proves that the connection between the upcoming comedy and the original series is close to non-existent.

Starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, the film uses the premise of the original series – that of young-looking cops posing as high school students – and then does with it the unexpected, by showing just how absurd it is.

Of course there will be drug use and physical humor, and of course there will be foul language (which isn't included in the latest trailer), but at least we're promised a goofy and fun comedy. Just what the doctor ordered.

“21 Jump Street” might not be groundbreaking (it presents itself as typical buddy cop fare), but at least it will be entertaining.

It's out on March 12, 2012. Now check out the trailer above.
