Judging from the existing leaks and information coming from sources familiar with the matter, the iPhone 7 could bring only small improvements while the next-next iPhone is more likely to include significant changes.

Coming in 2017, this model could feature a completely new look coupled with an AMOLED screen, which would make it the very first iPhone to boast such technology.

Now, Apple analyst Ming-Chi-Kuo says that the 2017 iPhone is expected to be fully made of glass, with Cupertino to finally give up on the aluminum case for the phone. What’s interesting is that Apple wants to make the iPhone completely from glass, as compared to the existing flagships running Android, which do come with this material, but continue to rely on a metallic frame.

9to5mac claims Apple’s 2017 iPhone won’t come with aluminum, so even the handset’s sides will use glass for a design that’s clearly supposed to be modern and premium.

Full glass and AMOLED screen

Apple’s iPhone 6 and 6s feature the exact same look, and there’s already criticism that the two models feel outdated, especially when comparing them to high-end models from rivals such as Samsung. The Galaxy S7 uses glass and Gorilla Glass 4 for extra protection, so Apple is looking to go even beyond this approach with an iPhone made entirely of glass.

Furthermore, this iPhone could come with an AMOLED screen, as Apple has recently signed a deal with Samsung for the production of 100 million such displays. It’s not yet clear if all 2017 models will benefit from this change, as the partnership between the two companies only concerned 5.5-inch screens, which means only the Plus could be upgraded to AMOLED.

There’s no doubt that there are a lot of uncertain things for now about the 2017 iPhone, and given the fact that there’s another model that’s supposed to launch in the meantime, anything could change by the time it sees daylight.
