14 DAY TRIAL // One of the most anticipated performances of the 2015 edition of the Billboard Music Awards was Nicki Minaj’s 2-song medley. It did not disappoint, rising to expectations as one of the most eye-popping and buzzworthy moments of the evening.
You can see it in full below. If you were expecting Nicki the rapper to show up, you’re probably in for a disappointment, because this was Nicki at her most pop.
She opened with a live rendition of her newest single “Night Is Still Young,” for which she also recently shot an official video, and segued into “Hey Mama,” with assistance from the DJ booth from David Guetta. This track is actually included on his album “Listen.”
Fans know that Nicki Minaj can go very raunchy in her performances, regardless if they air live on TV or not. Think of her “Anaconda” performance at the Video Music Awards 2014: now that was a performance you wouldn’t watch with your parents or kids.
The Billboard Awards, held at the MGM Arena in Las Vegas and airing on ABC, was not one such occasion: though she did bump and grind all over the stage, this one was comparatively tamer.
It was still amazing, with the exception of all the sung parts, where Nicki shamelessly lip-synced. Check it out!
