Apple’s “cheap” iPhone may not be so cheap after all

Although common sense tells you Apple will never ship a cheap iPhone, the consensus among analysts this year is that the company will deliver a version of the handset that is cheap-er.

That much is certain, given all the plastic shell leaks, but it won’t be much cheaper, considering that everything else inside the phone is top-notch.

Such as this recently leaked 8 megapixel camera, which is said to be the same one as the camera module inside the iPhone 5. And the rest of the electronics are also expected to be on par with the current-selling iPhone.

The low-cost variant is said to sport multiple color options, and the design is something of a hybrid that combines key elements from the iPhone 3GS and the latest iPod touch players.

A more expensive (and higher-specced) iPhone 5S is also expected to arrive this year.
