One of Apple’s biggest resellers provides a solid indication that new Macs are looming

As Apple always drains available Macintosh inventory ahead of a new product launch, the fact that Amazon has completely run out of 13-inch MacBook Pros to sell is a clear indication that we’ll see some new Macs next week.

As revealed by an Apple-centric site, one full week ahead of the WWDC 2013 keynote address, Amazon.com is sold-out of the entry-level MacBook Pro with non-Retina 13-inch display.

Not surprisingly, the well-connected Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities issued a research note this past weekend telling investors to expect some new Macintosh announcements at next week’s event.

Particularly, he said to expect a thinner version of the entry-level MacBook Pro because Apple will do away with some of the internal components (hard drive, optical unit), replacing them with smaller components or no components at all (as will probably be the case with the optical drive).

“We expect the new MacBook, featuring an upgrade to Intel’s (US) Haswell processor, will be in the spotlight for Apple at the upcoming WWDC from June 10,” he wrote.

In addition to the new processor, Kuo and his fellow analysts at KGI expect the following modifications to the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air product lines:

- Retina MacBook Pro to be slimmer slightly, along with a camera upgrade. - MacBook Air to share dual built-in microphone design of Retina MacBook Pro.

So, if you were out to buy a MacBook Pro, it’s probably best if you temper your urge until next week. Chances are you’ll be getting a product twice as good for the same price.

At WWDC 2013 Apple will also unveil a new version of its desktop operating system, likely numbered OS X 10.9 and named after a feline, like most other Mac OSes to date.

A new version of the company’s mobile operating system will also be showcased, but no iDevice announcements are expected as part of the opening keynote address.
