There's no secret that mirrorless cameras sell better on the Asian market and Japan solely holds 16% market share of the entire interchangeable lens camera market.

This also made an impact on the recent choice of Nippon camera and optics manufacturer Canon to launch it's second mirrorless camera, the EOS M2, only in China and Japan.

Japanese website BCNRanking, has posted a full analysis of last year's mirrorless camera market share in Japan, which places Olympus on first place for the third year in a row. From the same graphic we can see that Sony has gained a little over 6% and is now placed second, while Panasonic has lost 9% and is now on third place.

This comes again to confirm that Olympus will not disappear from the market anytime soon as some analysts predict. Although the company lost almost 1% market share in comparison with last year's figures, Toshi Terada, SLR products planning manager at Olympus, said in a recent interview that the company also considers getting back on the DSLR market in the future.
