The latest Apple TV software update adds support for wireless keyboards but only some models are compatible, according to a KB article posted online by Apple.

Apple TV Software 5.2 or later installs on Apple TV 2nd-generation and Apple TV 3rd-generation models.

The update allows users to browse and play music directly from iCloud, and includes performance and stability improvements. It also lets you use your Apple Wireless Keyboard to control your Apple TV.

However, you’re out of luck if you’re the proud owner of one of Apple’s most beautiful peripherals, the 2003 Apple Wireless Keyboard which requires four AA batteries.

According to Apple, only new keyboards work with the Apple TV, such as the all-aluminum models from 2007 and newer versions, as well as some third-party keyboards that use the Apple official layout.
