Italian video game developer Milestone and publisher Black Bean have announced that WRC 3, the racing simulation that has been sanctioned by the FIA, will be launched during October 2012 on the PlayStation 3, from Sony, the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the PC.

A version of the simulation title will also be offered on the new PlayStation Vita handheld from Sony at the same time but with some gameplay modifications.

The developers at Milestone are saying that both the graphics and the game engine for WRC 3 are re-built from the ground up using in-house created tools, with the main aim for the team being to deliver an experience that is as close as possible to real-world rally racing.

The game is set to offer all the rallies that are included in the 2012 World Rally Championship official calendar, with all the teams and the drivers included in the new Career mode.

The new Spikengine includes new lightning models and particle effects that will bring the experience closer to the real world while making it easier for players to judge the best racing line through each stage.

The developers are also saying that “Milestone has streamlined every aspect of the game to allow new players instant gameplay satisfaction, while still allowing experienced rally gamers to explore the game’s full range of features and drive a WRC car from the comfort of their own home.”

WRC 3 is set to have rebuilt stages, more crowds lining the roads in order to support their favorite drives and cinematic introductions for each stage which lay out the main challenges the player will face.

Milestone is well known for the work it has done in the simulation space, including the official game of the Superbike World Championship, and is currently also working on MUD, the game that simulates the Motorcross World Championship, set to launch during April.
