Most of it was made up of ideas that did not fit the game

Video game developer Vigil Games says that it has cut the content included in the upcoming Darksiders II by about 20 percent because the team had more ideas than it could actually develop.

The developers say that much of the cut content never made it past the prototype stage and might have felt out of a place in a final release, but the figure is intended to show fans of the Darksiders concept that Vigil Games was interested in putting as much content as possible in the sequel.

The developer told Gamasutra that “We definitely had the opportunity to add stuff in we wanted to get in the first one. I actually think in development, limits are good, so it was good to have a game that had an established gameplay style.

“Like when we didn’t have that in Darksiders 1, we were just reaching all the time. It even took us awhile to get a firm grasp on how exactly the game would play out.”

He added, “We knew what the kind of game we wanted to play, but it’s really hard to take a high-level concept and imagine the moment-to-moment gameplay. You have the comfort of not having to think about that with a sequel. Once you have some rules in place, it makes everything way easier.”

Darksiders II will star Death as the main character and will show the adventures that the Rider of the Apocalypse has gone through while War was dealing with the situation that Heaven and Hell created on Earth.

Vigil Games has promised gamers that Darksiders II will deliver better combat and more areas to explore.

Darksiders II will be initially launched during June on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the PC.

Vigil Games also plans to launch a Nintendo Wii U version of the game.
