The prototype showed off at CES 2013 has turned out to be more than that

Technological trade shows act as launching ramps for various products, but they are also good occasions to show off weird, or at least unusual, things that might not even make it to the market.

Back in January, during the 2013 edition of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2013), Panasonic revealed a 20-inch tablet.

In truth, it was more of an all-in-one personal computer with a tablet form factor instead of the normal, monitor-like shape.

It is actually the reason, or part of the reason, why convertible all-in-one PCs have started to crop up here and there.

We have now learned that Panasonic won't let the 20-inch tablet, or PC or whatever It qualifies as, be lost in the annals of history.

In fact, the company has reached an agreement with Microsoft, to release it at some point this very year (2013).

The report from Indiatimes doesn't provide much information beyond that though, unfortunately.

Nevertheless, even just knowing the screen qualify (3840 x 2160 pixels) is enough to figure out that artists and architects can use it for many things.

The operating system will be either Windows 8 Pro or Windows RT. The latter is actually unlikely, since it is made for ARM platforms, and regardless of how strong the Tegra 4 or other SoCs are, Panasonic's tablet will probably use an Intel CPU instead.

RAM and storage are bound to be on the high side too. The AiO tablet being so large, it will have to use that space for something after all.

No clue on when further information might be revealed, but we are hoping CeBIT 2013 (March 05-09) will provide some.

Then again, if Panasonic and Microsoft choose summer or later in 2013 as the arrival time, Computex 2013, a show that will take place in Taipei, Taiwan, in June, is more likely.
