It screened in IMAX, wasn’t supposed to be out until Feb. 5

Not even HBO is immune to leaks: yesterday, “Game of Thrones” became the first-ever TV series to get an IMAX release, and as an extra treat for fans, the brand new trailer for the upcoming Season 5 was included in the screening.

Said trailer wasn’t supposed to be out to the public until February 5, but, well, you know how these things work. Someone took a camera inside the theater and shot it, and now the trailer is out there, online.

It’s not the best video or audio quality, but it’s good enough if you feel like you can’t wait until the actual release date, to get a feel of what’s coming.

And let me tell you, what’s coming promises to be epic: Arya arrives in Bravoos and starts her training, we get our first look at the Sand Snakes but also at a grown dragon, Tyron and Varys escape King’s Landing, Cersei is mad that Tyron is not dead, Margaery marries the newest King, Tommen, Sansa is getting ready to avenge her family, under Littlefinger’s guidance, and so much more.

“Game of Thrones” returns on TV on April 12, with the high-quality trailer still scheduled for release on February 5, as of the time of writing. However, given the leak, we should probably expect HBO to jump the gun on that and intro it sooner.

Until April 12, if you’re a GoT fan, you know what you have to do: binge-watch to refresh your memory.

[Update, January 31, 2015]: As noted above, HBO deemed that the best manner of damage control for the leak was to release the official version of the trailer. Here it is.
