Animal Planet has been having some trouble deciding when it will air a new season of "Whale Wars," but at least it's settled on the release date for a 2-hour special documenting Sea Shepherd's Operation Zero Tolerance.

Yesterday, Animal Planet announced that the 2-hour "Whale Wars" special will air on December 13 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Apparently, it will tell the tale of "the Sea Shepherd's toughest campaign yet."

As detailed in the press release on this matter, Operation Zero Tolerance was carried out despite the fact that, after two red notices were issued by the Interpol against Captain Paul Watson, the latter was forced to step down as the organization's leader.

"When the groundbreaking series returns to Animal Planet in a two-hour special television event on Friday, December 13 from 9-11 PM (ET/PT), 'Whale Wars' will chronicle the Sea Shepherds' 2012 'Zero Tolerance' mission that is in peril even before it gets started," Animal Planet writes.

"Leaderless and without Watson's vast experience in aggressively engaging the whalers at sea, the Sea Shepherds are at a crossroads. Which one of the Sea Shepherds will take the mantle of leader and guide the group as they embark on their dangerous mission 'to die for the whales?'" it adds.

I don't know about you, but I for one cannot wait for this special to hit the screen.
