14 DAY TRIAL // Windows 7 customers can download two themes featuring content from Austria via the Microsoft Download Center. With these two theme packs, users running the latest iteration of the Windows client will be able to personalize their desktops with additional imagery from Europe. Those of you that are keeping their eyes on this space have already been able to download themes with wallpapers from the Czech Republic and Italy since May 2010. Of course, users that went digging through the Windows Personalization Gallery might have come across the content on their own.
The couple of Austria Windows 7 themes are offered through a version of the Windows Personalization Gallery reserved for users in Österreich, as Germans refer to the Central European country. There are no less than 21 backgrounds between the two themes, and users are bound to at least get a perspective over Austria, a country whose name is derived from the German Ostarrîchi, which stands for eastern realm.
Microsoft has centralized themes for a range of countries and geographic regions on the main, US flavor of the Windows Personalization Gallery. However, the two themes mentioned above are not offered through the Gallery’s US hub, but only via the Austrian version of the webpage. At the same time, users will be able to find the download links, along with a selection of the wallpapers contained by the theme at the bottom of this screen.
In addition, I have also included download links for more Windows 7 themes, some of which detailed in previous articles right here on Softpedia. In this regard, the two free Windows 7 Austria themes complement the European-centric theme packs for Terre di Sienna and the Czech Republic. There is, of course, additional content offered by Microsoft for Windows users that want to customize their desktops.
