A 23-year-old man whose identity has not yet been released to the press went on a killing spree in Texas, shooting 2 and injuring another 5 before he was taken out by police in a shootout, Reuters reports.

The man’s motives have not yet been established but, according to reports, he drove between Eden and Brady, randomly opening fire on people.

He was shot in Eden, “in a shootout with a Highway Patrol trooper and game warden who arrived to assist the sheriff,” the aforementioned media outlet reports.

“Authorities recovered an assault rifle, a handgun and hundreds of rounds of ammunition from the suspect,” adds Reuters.

An investigation is now underway to determine what might have prompted such a violent course of action on behalf of the man. His identity will be made public only after his next of kin are notified.
