India announces plans to build 2,200 sun-powered mobile communication towers

By the end of this year, India is expected to be home to about 815 million mobile users. To keep up with this predicted increase in the popularity of mobile communication, efforts are being made to better the underlying infrastructure.

Interestingly enough, it looks like India is very much concerned with keeping mobile communication an environmentally friendly business. Thus, word has it that the country wants to install 2,200 sun-powered mobile communication towers.

As detailed by Clean Technica, these eco-friendly communication towers are to be installed in several states located in central India. When up and running, they will help the country reduce emissions while supporting mobile communication.

According to the same source, the states chosen to accommodate for these towers are as follows: West Bengal, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh.

This green-oriented project was given the green light towards the end of last month. Should things go as planned, the 2,200 solar-powered mobile communication towers will be installed and become operational in about one year.
