The people at AgileBits have released an update for 1Password users that prefer to download their software outside the Mac App Store - for example, to try-before-they-buy.Already available at version 3.9 on the Mac App Store (released earlier this month), 1Password also comes in a version that starts out as a free trial.
It allows those who download the app from AgileBits (or Softpedia) to try out the app before plucking $49.99 (€19.99) to create strong, unique passwords, remember them, and restore them, all directly in their web browser.
An announcement on the AgileBits blog now reveals that some of Lion-specific goodness added in the last update has made its way into 1Password 3.8.6, which lives outside the confines of Apple’s digital distribution venue for Mac software.
“You didn’t really think we’d close out the weekend with only a Chrome extension update to show for it, right? Hot off our developers’ keyboards is 1Password 3.8.6 for our website customers, which brings a couple of neat new features that we introduced in the Mac App Store version, as well as one that version doesn’t even have yet,”
says AgileBits.
In addition to bringing full-screen support on Lion, this version exclusively packs support for the WebKit browser. The people at AgileBits are telling Mac App Store users to stay tuned, as their version of 1Password will soon get this too.
The popular password manager, which also works as a form filler, now has an updated Go & Fill function in Snow Leopard to support new Firefox and Chrome extensions.
The update makes updating information between 1Password and its browser extensions more reliable, and there are plenty of other fixes for issues reported in the 1Password forum, according to the developers.
“As usual, our website customers can snag the new version by opening 1Password and going to 1Password > Check for Updates,” AgileBits concludes. Feedback is welcome, as always, the company says.
