Following a weeks-long development process,
Agile Web Solutions has released a new update for buyers of its password manager and form filler, 1Password. Version 2.11.1 is likely a maintenance release with several changes and improvements, although a changelog is yet unavailable.
“In case you missed the recent update message, a new Upgrade to Agile Keychain window will open on first launch for those still using the OS X Keychain,” Agile said
on its website at the time version 2.11.0 was out. “It is recommended that you proceed with the upgrade to the new Agile Keychain if you are prompted,” the company advised its customers, something that should still apply.
“The Agile Keychain is required by 1Password 3 to support the new features and it is important that this upgrade happen before downloading 1Password 3 or you will experience issues with OS X Keychain permissions. For details, please see Automatically Upgrading Your Keychain,” the company added.
Besides improving the Fill Credit Card and Fill Identity form fillers to support RFC 4112, version 2.11.0 also improved the OS X to the Agile Keychain conversion process to work better on Snow Leopard, as well as the diagnostics report, to include more information about the 1PasswordAgent plus a Summary section. These improvements should be included in 1Password 2.11.1 as well.
Also improved is the diagnostics script, which now gracefully reports any exceptions that may occur. The developers made backup preferences more robust by disallowing removable or unwritable locations for automated backups, according to the release notes. Agile adds that it is no longer possible to choose a folder inside the current .agilekeychain for the backups. Lastly, the instructions on the Agile Keychain Migration screen have also been updated. If you are prompted by the OS X Keychain Service during the migration, there is now an option to “Allow.” Fixes incorporated in this update include:
· Fixed problem where Wi-Fi sync authorization would fail if 1Password trial had expired.
· Fixed an issue on PPC machines that would prevent the 1PasswordAgent from launching.
· Fixed a rare crash that could happen on unlock. Download 1Password (Update / Trial / Buy)
