1Password Updated for Mac OS X and iPhone

Agile Web Solutions has updated 1Password, its flagship product for Mac OS X and iPhone. The desktop version of the software has received a maintenance update that contains several fixes and improvements, according to the developers. The iPhone version of the software has also received some enhancements.

Since its initial debut, on May 19, 2006, 1Password has been updated over a hundred times, with a total of 1184 changes - “a clear testament to the Agile team's love of 1Password,” Agile Web Solutions claims. Published Aug 03, 2009, “[1Password 2.9.22] is a maintenance release that contains several fixes and improvements,” Agile says. “The most notable fixes are improved support for Firefox 3.5 and Wi-Fi syncing improvements,” the company states. According to the release notes, the update is recommended for all users of the software. Other noteworthy changes include:

- Now logging 1PasswordAgent status in diagnostics, as well as better logging of shutdown
- Added additional logging to diagnostics for troubleshooting issues related to keychain locking and users belonging to the wheel group.
- Removed autosaving of search items from 1Password just in case passwords are searched for.
- Improved diagnostics to report more information about Bonjour and Agile Keychain settings.
- Removed the warning about 1Password touch 2.0 being needed for the new WiFi sync.

The iPhone client, now at version 2.2, gains new features like Quick Copy and Paste and the option to completely reset a database 1Password Pro for iPhone now syncs folders from 1Password for Mac and copy multiple fields to the clipboard. 1Password Pro is on sale for a limited time. The software requires OS 3.0 software and works with iPhone and ipod touch.

1Password for Mac requires at least OS X 10.4 (Tiger) and has full Leopard support. The application also needs a modern web browser such as Safari, Firefox, or Camino (with recent updates applied).
