Agile Web Solutions' popular password manager and form filler for
Mac OS X,
1Password, has just reached version 2.9, adding Agile Keychain data format to allow syncing without requiring MobileMe. The company has set up a
special guide for keeping your passwords in sync with the latest version of 1Password.
Additionally, version 2.9 brings support for
Safari 4.0 Developer Preview #2, AppleScript support for showing preference panels, and a Copy to Clipboard command for the Palm version of 1Passord. Agile Web Solutions has also changed the Autosave prompt in Firefox to allow saving after the login information is submitted, while the app can now be used without installing the browser extensions.
1Password has been designed to remember all your online passwords that you can insert on any web page or form, anytime, by using one single password. The application integrates directly into most browsers and sports built-in anti-phishing and keylogger protection. By using this piece of software, Mac owners can easily manage hundreds of passwords with one master key. The iPhone version of 1Password is also available for download via the iTunes App Store, while the desktop version supports most modern web browsers, including Firefox, Camino, OmniWeb, DEVONagent, NetNewsWire, and of course, Apple's own Safari.
Note that the master password will be used to protect your keychain data with military-strong encryption, which is why it is very important that you pick a strong password and commit it to memory.
1Password costs $39.95 for a Single User license, or $59.95 for a Family license. The software is licensed on a per-person basis (a single license can be used by one person on as many Macs as they can afford), drastically reducing 1Password's total cost of ownership. A free trial is available for download
