Agile Web Solutions' form filler and password manager for Mac OS X, 1Password, has reached version 2.9.8 Beta 1, adding a slew of changes, tweaks, and fixes. Noteworthy additions include the ability to save unchecked boxes to allow editing checkbox fields, a new option in the preferences pane, back Autosave and Autosubmit checkmarks, and more.

1Password is designed to remember all the online passwords that you insert on any web page or form, anytime, by using one single (master) countersign. It integrates directly into most browsers, and sports built-in, anti-phishing and keylogger protection.

By using the utility, Mac owners can easily manage hundreds of passwords with one key. It supports Firefox, Camino, OmniWeb, DEVONagent, NetNewsWire, and of course, Apple's own Safari. Opera, unfortunately, isn't supported. An iPhone version of the app is also available for download via the iTunes App Store. A list of highlighted changes included with the release of 1Password 2.9.8 Beta 1 is available below:

- Added hidden preference “createLoginAutosaveNameWithUsername” to allow generating login names with username included. - Improved Search in Password feature to include concealed wallet values. - Added back Autosave and Autosubmit checkmarks to 1Password browser extension menu. - Now using only login title as the bookmark name when creating Safari bookmarks by dragging logins from 1Password application. - Now hiding “Troubleshooting -> Rebuild Keychain File” menu item when Agile Keychain format is used. This menu is only needed for OS X Keychain.

Agile Web Solutions was also able to identify and fix a quartet of issues bugging users, such as layout resize problems in Rebuild Keychain window and in the Diagnostics window, a random problem with Safari toolbar customization happening when 1Password extension was installed, as well as faults with login on Digg.com.

1Password starts at $39.95 - Single User license. A Family one costs $59.95. The utility is licensed on a per-person basis (a single license can be used by one person on as many Macs as they can afford) in order to reduce 1Password's total cost of ownership. Using the link below, you can update to the current version, try out 1Password for free in demo mode, or buy a copy of the software. Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) is required. The app is a Universal Binary.
