Agile Web Solutions has released a new version of its password manager for Mac OS X users, 1Password. The new release is labeled 2.9.4 Beta 1, and includes both changes and fixes to some reported issues. More details and means to download the update are available below.

According to the changelog, the first beta of 1Password 2.9.4 now prevents the application's Preferences to sync via MobileMe. The developers have also updated 1Password's toolbar images for OmniWeb 5.8. As for the fixes included in the new build, the password manager now hides items from the Bookmarks menu if they are set to be hidden in the browser. A problem with keyboard shortcuts in Firefox has apparently been addressed as well.

1Password is both a password manager, and a form filler. It eliminates the stress of having to fill dozens of fields when buying stuff online, from sites like Amazon and eBay. It has been designed to remember all your online passwords that you can insert on any web page or form, anytime, by using one single (master) password. It integrates directly into most browsers, and sports built-in anti-phishing and keylogger protection. Using 1Password, Mac owners can easily manage hundreds of passwords with one key. It supports Firefox, Camino, OmniWeb, DEVONagent, NetNewsWire, and of course, Apple's own Safari. Opera, unfortunately, isn't supported. An iPhone version of the app is also available for download via the iTunes App Store.

1Password starts at $39.95 - Single User license. A Family license costs $59.95. 1Password is licensed on a per-person basis (a single license can be used by one person on as many Macs as they can afford) in order to reduce 1Password's total cost of ownership. A free trial version is available for download using the link below. The same link can be used to update your current version for free. A stable version of the software can also be downloaded, should you not trust beta releases. 1Password requires Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), and is a Universal Binary.
