It's got a 5:4 aspect ratio, instead of the now common 16:9 widescreen shape

EIZO could have just launched another standard display, but instead, it went for what used to be standard but no longer is: the 5:4 aspect ratio.

Its new monitor is called FlexScan S1933 and is made for office PCs as well as older computers with graphics boards that output a sync-on-green signal.

The display has a modest native resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels, but at least the IPS screen ensures wide viewing angles (178 degrees).

Also, thanks to LED backlighting and extreme power-saving and environmental optimizations (Auto EcoView ambient light sensor, a preset Paper mode, etc.), the EIZO FlexScan S1933 gets away with a power consumption of 12W.

In addition to Paper mode, you can select sRGB and Custom (user-defined settings) modes.

All in all, EIZO cut a lot of corners in order to launch a non-glare LCD with EPA Energy Star 6.0, EPEAT Gold, and TCO Certification.

As for the stand, it can have 30-degree tilt or both 30-degree tilt and 70-degree swivel. Portrait mode is included in the second option. Finally, connections to PCs are done via D-Sub or DVI.

The new EIZO 19-inch FlexScan S1933 monitor has Dual 0.5 watt internal speakers and a headphone jack, but its price hasn't been mentioned yet.
